Tree Dressing – Sunday December 6th

Our annual tree dressing celebration is at 2 p.m. on Sunday December 6th. All are invited to this free event, when one of the trees near the bowling green is decorated.

It will be followed by free hot drinks and mince pies, before the Annual General Meeting at 2.30 p.m. The agenda is on the back page – please do make an effort to come along and have your say.

Why Tree Dressing?

Tree Dressing Day was initiated by the Common Ground charity in 1990, so this year we are celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the start of the modern tree dressing tradition. The purpose of the event is to remind us that every tree counts. This is more important than ever today, when the vital role of trees in reducing global warming is so important to the future survival of humankind.

SThere are many lovely trees in Harrow Recreation Ground, including some new ones which will keep the place green and leafy for many years to come, and help reduce CO2 pollution of the atmosphere.

Sadly this year the event will not be organised by Heather Lee, whose untimely death in July left a serious gap in our small team of helpers. Despite this, we hope to maintain what has become a popular tradition in Harrow Recreation Ground for at least one more year.

We will hold our Annual General Meeting immediately after the tree dressing, and free mince pies and hot drinks will be available in the green pavilion.

Please come along to the tree dressing and support the AGM. We will be pleased to see you, especially if you can help organise some of the events we run each year in Harrow Recreation Ground
